After graduating with a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Computer Science from the University of Peradeniya in 2003 he joined the same University as a temporary lecturer in that year. In 2004 he joined the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) as a Lecturer where he serve to date. In February of 2007 he received a scholarship form SIDA/SPIDER through the National eLearning Centre Project to do his PhD studies.
In 2005/06 he followed the Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education programme conducted by the Staff Development Centre of the University of Colombo and received accreditation by the Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA) of UK. The exposure to pedagogics at the SDC made me develop an interest in the role of Information and Communication Technology in the field of Education. His PhD studies are linked with this interest and focus on the issues of computer based assessment in Distance Education. He was awarded his Doctor of Philosophy degree from Umeå University of Sweden in Spetember 2012.
His main research interests are ICT and Education, Autonomous and Intelligent systems, Pattern recognition, Artificial Intelligence and information security.
