Dr. D.N. Ranasinghe.
Senior Lecturer(Grade I)
Nalin Ranasinghe is a Senior Lecturer attached to the UCSC. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Masters Degree in Communications Engineering from Imperial College, London. He obtained his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Wales, Cardiff, specializing in Network Modelling. He served as the Deputy Director (2009-2011) and Head of CIS (2004-09). His research interests are in distributed and high performance computing, information theory and cryptography.
Dr. Ajantha Atukorale.
Senior Lecturer(Grade I)
Ajantha Atukorale received his B.Sc. Degree with honors in Computer Science from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 1995. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2002 from University of Queensland, Australia in the field of neural pattern recognition. His research interests include Neural Networks, Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning, Computer Networks, Digital Forensic and Virtualization. He is a member of the IEEE and a member of the Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL).
Dr. Kasun De Zoysa.
Senior Lecturer(Grade I)
Kasun was obtained his BSc in Computer Science from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 1998. He obtained his Ph.D. in the area of Computer Security from Stockholm University in 2003. After a brief period of post-doctoral work at the George Washington University, USA, he joined the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC), Sri Lanka in 2003. At present he works as a senior lecturer at UCSC, advisor for forensic investigation unit attached to UCSC and academic coordinator of Master of Science in Information Security Program at UCSC.
Dr. Chamath Keppitiyagama.
Senior Lecturer(Grade I)
Chamath Keppitiyagama obtained a B.Sc in Computer Science from the University of Colombo in 1997. In 1998 he went to the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada for his graduate studies. He obtained a MSc in Computer Science from the UBC in 2000 and a PhD in Computer Science from the UBC in 2005. He has research interests in Distributed Computing, Computer Networks, Operating Systems and Sensor Networks. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Computer Society of Sri Lanka.
Dr. Jeevani Goonetillake.
Senior Lecturer(Grade I)
She joined the University of Colombo in 1996 after graduating with B.Sc (Computer Science) first class honors from the same university. She then obtained her MSc (Data Engineering) from Keele University, UK in 1998 and PhD from University of Wales, UK in 2004 respectively. Her research interests include database security and forensics, wireless and sensor network databases, NoSQL databases, social life networking and crowd sourcing.
Dr.Prasad Wimalaratne
Senior Lecturer(Grade I)
Prasad Wimalaratne obtained Ph.D. in Virtual Environments from the University of Salford, United Kingdom in 2002. He is a senior member of IEEE. His research interests include virtual reality, computer graphics, and assistive technology. He joined the academic staff of the University of Colombo in 1995 and currently serves as a senior lecturer . He was the former director of the Career Guidance Unit at the University of Colombo. He has served as a council member of the Sri Lanka Association for the Software Industry (SLASI), vice chair of Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Sri Lanka Section and a council member of the Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL).
Dr. Hakim Usoof
Senior Lecturer(Grade II)
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Computer Science from the University of Peradeniya in 2003 he joined the same University as a temporary lecturer in that year. In 2004 he joined the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) as a Lecturer where he serve to date. His PhD studies focus on the issues of computer based assessment in Distance Education. He was awarded his Doctor of Philosophy degree from Umeå University of Sweden in Spetember 2012. His main research interests are ICT and Education, Autonomous and Intelligent systems, Pattern recognition, Artificial Intelligence and information security.

Dr George R. S. Weir

Dr George R. S. Weir’s academic background lies in philosophy and he has a persistent interest in digital forensic, cyber crime, language and conceptual analysis that tends to infuse much of his computing-related research. He completed his MA degree in mental philosophy at University of Glasgow with honors then the PhD in philosophy at University of Edinburgh and the post graduate diploma in business information systems at University of Strathclyde.
Professor Abhaya Induruwa
Professor V. K. Samaranayake Endowed Professor, UCSC and Programme Director for post graduate studies in Computing, Canterbury Christ Church University, UK.
Professor Abhaya Induruwa pioneered the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the University of Moratuwa in 1985, and served its Founding Head until 1998. In 1989 he pioneered and served as the Principal Investigator of project LEARN, the academic Internet in Sri Lanka, which he led to completion in 1995. Currently he serves the UCSC as the Professor V. K. Samaranayake Endowed Professor in addition to being the Programme Director for post graduate studies in Cybercrime and Forensic Computing at the Canterbury Christ Church University, UK. From 1994 until now Professor Induruwa functions as the Director of a series of training workshops on Internet based Distributed Instrument Systems and Technologies for scientists in developing countries funded by the ICTP, Trieste, Italy. Professor Induruwa is an FIE (Sri Lanka), FIET (UK), and FBCS. In recognition of his contributions to Sri Lanka he was awarded the Honorary Fellowship of the Computer Society of Sri Lanka in 2003.

Buddy Liyanage received his B.Sc. Degree with honors in Computer Science from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 1982 and obtained his Ph.D. degree from University of Reading, UK in 1989. At present he works as Information Security Manager at Thames Water, UK.
Dr. Chaminda Ranasinghe
Chief Executive Officer of IdeaHub (Pvt) Ltd., Sri Lanka
Dr. Chaminda Ranasinghe functions as Chief Executive Officer of IdeaHub (Pvt) Ltd. Dr. Ranasinghe obtained his B.Sc. (Hons) Degree in Computer Science from the University of Colombo in 1997 and a Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) in 1995. He obtained his Ph.D. from University of Colombo in 2008. He is a member of CIM (U.K.), IEEE, ACM and CSSL. Dr. Ranasinghe has worked in both Banking and Telecommunication sectors in technical and management capacities for over 14 years. In the Telecommunication Sector he has worked both in the capacity of an external solution provider and also as an internal member of a Telco Senior Management Team. As a solution provider Dr. Ranasinghe has designed and developed Telco Billing, CRM, Provisioning and Mediation solutions. He has also worked as the Senior Vice President of Charging Systems and IT for the largest Telco in Sri Lanka.
Mr. Amila Bhagya Perera
Senior Information Security Specialist at TechCERT, Sri Lanka
Mr. Amila Perera is working as a Senior Information Security Specialist at TechCERT, which is the first and the largest Computer Emergency Readiness Team(CERT) in Sri Lanka. His expertise areas comprise of digital forensics, malware research, vulnerability and exploit discovery, penetration testing, intrusion detection/prevention and incident response. His academic qualifications include both First class BSc (Hons) degree in Information Technology (specialized in Computer Systems and Networking) as well as, a Distinction for MSc level degree specialized in Information Systems Security at Sheffield Hallam University, United Kingdom. Amila is an information security professional with CISSP and C|EH certifications and he also holds the memberships of ISC2, BCS and CSSL. He has specialized in researching effective solutions to address the challenges in digital forensics and intrusion pattern analysis areas. Amila has participated as a speaker at numerous conferences and workshops on various information security topics in the region.
